Closing out year two of the pandemic, I think we can all agree that 2021 has been a hard year. Enduring this seemingly endless crisis has put more stress and strain on our collective mental health than I believe any of us really know yet. As many of you know, I’m also an RN, and working as a nurse during Covid has been exhausting, frustrating, and demoralizing.

However, I am blessed to have this business as well, an art that brings me such joy. These two careers allow me to see the full spectrum of human emotions. Photographing weddings and families allows me to balance the fulfilling but so often heartbreaking work of being a nurse with the unparalleled joy of seeing people deeply connect; I get to capture seniors feeling the exciting brink of adulthood, families laughing together, and couples so incredibly in love.

Looking forward to 2022, I hope to continue experiencing and photographing the full range of these complex human connections as both a nurse and photographer. I pray that there be more joy than heartbreak in 2022. I’m ready for whatever comes, and grateful to share it with y’all.
